This compound was name for George H. Paine, who was a DSC winner. He serverd with the 31st Inf, 7th ID. He died for his country in north Korea in Nov 1950.

Camp Paine was home to B Company 707th Maintenance Battalion. It also was home to the 1/79th FA Battalion.
